Dark Room Shots

We went to the Dark room to shoot abstract shots of the murder's surroundings. This included the lights shaking and the water running. We wanted to create an eerie effect.
We took shots such as the water running and the red lights. We used parts of this shoot to put in parts of our opening.

Credits list for thriller opening

These are the credits we hope to include in the title sequence to our thriller. The titles will be done in photoshop, edited and formatted. Then imported to Final cut express. This is so that the titles can be placed over the top of our footage to create a more proffensional thriller title sequence.: -

Final Destination 3 opening

This was also a good opening sequence. It showed a lot of what the film was about and the ideas behind it. There was also uses of flash cameras and flashbacks from the film so it gave an insight story to the film.

Animatic

For our anamatic we decided to use an abstract piece. We put close-up shots of the victim and the murderers hand tapping which created suspense.
We have decided to use a few main locations: Such as the store room at college, the photography dark room, shots of weapons as well as some abstract shots.
We haven't decided on a final title yet, as we want to see the finished piece before naming it. However, we have decide we want the title to be simple black and white. This will make it more atmospheric and tense.
The aim of this piece is the to create suspense, this will make the audience want to watch the entire film.

Initial Ideas

First of all we thought up of some ideas close to the beginning of Saw trailer. This includes use of flash photography. Our location will be in the dark rooms in college. We are also going to use props in our opening sequence such as a camera recording and a flash camera. We also thought of using close up shots of sharp objects to show that the person is being tortured.

  • Firstly in our sequence we are going to shoot the torturer tapping his fingers constantly throughout the sequence and the tapping will get louder until the climax at the end.
  • second shoot will be fast abstract shots of the person getting tortured and the camera recording in the background
  • We wanted to keep our piece abstract so we are also going to shoot normal life stuations after each torturing scene.
  • Flash photography will snap after each scene showing glimpses of the person being tortured face which is unrevealed until the end.

Saw Trailer

\

This opening had a lot of good techniques such as camera flashing and the clock ticking fast.
